Celebrating Public Works Week

Visitors to the May First Friday event in Downtown Lakeland were in for a big surprise.  This month’s event celebrated Public Works Week and the City of Lakeland’s Public Works Department with the theme ‘It Starts Here”.  Visitors learned about various City departments, such as Parking Services Facilities, Engineering, Traffic Ops, Lakes & Stormwater, Solid Waste and Construction & Maintenance.  The departments had a number of displays and cool equipment to inspect.  Downtown shops and restaurants stayed open late to accommodate those looking to enjoy an evening featuring locals artists and creators as well as the Classy Car Show.
