Special Olympics Update

Our residents & members love to take part in Special Olympics events

Here is an update on the latest Special Olympics event from coach Jerome Thomas…

Friday and Saturday December 6 and 7 2019 Special Olympics Florida held their State Bowling Championship Tournament.  It was held at Boardwalk Bowl, 10749 East Colonial Drive, Orlando, Florida 32817.

Noah’s Ark was represented by six athletes:

  • Chris Doble
  • Amber Ellis
  • Phillip Gossen
  • Adam Harding
  • Kevin Hill
  • David Paoli

The athletes attended the Friday evening meal, Opening Ceremonies and Athlete Dance at nearby Union Park Middle School.

Competition started Saturday morning for our athletes.  The facility was an amazing place with 80 bowling lanes.  Four person team competition was first.  Our team was made up of Chris Doble, Philip Gossen, Adam Harding & David Paoli.  Their division was very large and competitive.  They received a fourth place ribbon for their tremendous effort.

Afternoon competition was for doubles.  Our team was made up of Amber Ellis & Kevin Hill.  Their games were very close and they received a Gold Medal for their tremendous effort.

It was a wonderful trip and outstanding competition.  Our athletes did a remarkable job or representing themselves and Noah’s Ark and Polk County.

I would like to thank all the parents who allowed me and my wife to coach and take them to State Games.

Thanks for all the support the team received.  Special thanks to the parents, relatives and friends and especially those form out of state who supported them at the games.

That’s all for SP Bowling for this year.  Next year sign up will be in August 2020.

Merry Christmas to all…
